The old delivery truck had just been sitting around, gathering dust, when Gary Warren got an idea: Why not wrap it and turn it into a rolling billboard?
So that's what his in-plant at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke did recently, turning an old vehicle into an eye-catching curiosity that's been turning heads ever since.
Print Services designed the graphics, then printed them with its Mimaki CJV 150 onto 3M Controltac vinyl. The graphics were laminated on the shop's new 65˝ Daige Solo cold laminator. Then print technician Kylie Dentremont installed it onto the vehicle in a single day.
"We wanted to get people’s attention here on campus, and that has definitely worked," remarks Warren. "They will stop and comment on it, and that gives us an opportunity to tell them what we can do. Most people think of us as just putting print on paper sheets and nothing more. It’s definitely improved our image and opened up new revenue sources and brought in more jobs that would have been outsourced. Well worth the time and money it cost us."
