Our free online PRINTING United Expo Preview focused on the in-plant industry is still available for in-plants to view. IPI Editor Bob Neubauer sat with Consultant Howie Fenton and sustainability expert of Messiah University to discuss trends impacting in-plants. Neubauer also presented a report on business conditions at in-plants as they emerge from the pandemic. These sessions, which launched on June 30, are still available to view.
The educational videos are part of a broader Expo Preview educational series covering topics like commercial printing, mailing, fulfillment, wide-format, apparel, promo products, and more. The Expo Preview gives the industry an advanced look at what to expect at the live PRINTING United Expo in Orlando, Oct. 6-8.
Expo Preview sessions feature case studies, strategies, facts, and new approaches designed to meet the needs of today’s businesses. In addition to Fenton and Hoover, speakers include Marco Boer, IT Strategies; Lisa Cross, NAPCO Research; David Zwang, Zwang & Co.; Pat McGrew, McGrew Group; and Tim Greene, IDC.
In the in-plant sessions, Neubauer talked with Fenton about topics like estimating staffing needs as print volumes change, how to plan for recovery, the crucial role of automation, how to increase awareness of your in-plant and more.
Sustainability is the topic of another session in which Hoover discussed why it’s important for in-plants to increase their focus on sustainability -- and how doing this can improve an in-plant’s value in the eyes of its parent organization.
Neubauer also offered a presentation based on new IPI research detailing how the pandemic has impacted the in-plant industry, which services and applications have been in demand over the past chaotic year, and what changes in-plants are making as they prepare for recovery.
