How the chain-of-custody mechanism is used in the in-plant environment to trace products from the forest to the end user.

There are four CBs in the U.S.:

• Smartwood (SW).

• Bureau Veritas (BV).

• Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).

• The SGS Qualifor Program (SGS).

When you see an FSC label on a printed piece, the first two initials are the CB’s, followed by COC, and then the certified organization’s unique number. An example is SW-COC-12345.
