Higher-Ed In-plants Meet in Rochester
Eighty in-plant representatives from across North America met in Rochester, N.Y., recently for Xerox’s annual Higher Education Thought Leadership Workshop at the Xerox Gil Hatch Center. The two-day event was packed with impressive speakers.
Ken Macro, a professor in Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department, gave a presentation on lean manufacturing in printing. Then Peter Muir, president of Bizucate, an education, consulting and research firm serving the graphic arts industry, discussed techniques and strategies to help in-plants thrive during these difficult economic times. A Xerox representative gave a presentation on sustainability and how it is impacting the in-plant.
Then two prominent university in-plant directors, Raj Nadrajan, from Simon Fraser University, and Abbas Badani, from Penn State University, gave presentations about their operations, both of which use Xerox iGen3/4 technology. Attendees later got a chance to see the iGen3 and many other Xerox technologies in action on the production floor of the Gil Hatch Center.
