Digital Printing
Konica Minolta will feature the bizhub PRESS C1100 and the bizhub PRESS C1085. The C1100 can reach speeds of 100 pages per minute and the C1085 can reach 85 pages per minute, with all substrate types and weights. These presses also provide accurate registration, color consistency, flexible substrate handling, and inline finishing options.
The newly engineered Versant 2100 press will be introduced by Xerox. This 100-page-per-minute color device is versatile for any production environment, delivering benchmark image quality with maximum productivity. It comes standard with a full width array and automated color quality suite to provide color control and create image-to-media alignment profiles in less time.
Xanté will exhibit the ILUMINA Heavyweight Champion digital print system with ultra-thick printing capabilities (up to 500 gsm/24 pt). It lets customers print heavy stock brochures, vinyl, synthetic paper, cards, magnetic media or textured stocks on sheet sizes from 3x5˝ up to 13x52˝. The system utilizes LED printheads, HD microfine toner and Single Pass Color technology.
Designed specifically for sign and display print service providers, the Océ Arizona 6100 series, debuting from Canon U.S.A., is comprised of the six-color Océ Arizona 6160 XTS and the seven-color Océ Arizona 6170 XTS UV flatbed printers. These devices can produce inkjet print output speeds up to 1,668 sq. ft./hr.
Epson's SureColor T-Series large-format color printers provide dual roll capabilities and feature an optional multi-function module for color scanning and copying without a PC. The printers utilize Epson's PrecisionCore TFP print head and UltraChrome XD pigment ink, providing speed, media flexibility and precision.
Ricoh Americas will present its seven-color Ricoh Pro L4130/L4160 wide-format color printers, which offer an increased color gamut for creating signs, banners, wraps and point-of-sale displays across all of today's substrates, including clear and backlit.
Hewlett Packard will showcase the sheetfed HP Indigo 7800 Digital Press, which provides improved productivity, a range of new capabilities—including direct printing on synthetic substrates—and a new color management experience with an in-line spectrophotometer. The press also features intelligent automation, helping prioritize print jobs with optimized on-press job sequencing.
Wide- and super-wide inkjet offerings featuring EFI's UltraDrop 7pL grayscale printhead technology will be exhibited by EFI. In addition, the high-volume EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro and the entry-level EFI H1625 LED printer will be shown, along with EFI Fiery FS150 Pro technology and MIS/ERP and Web-to-print offerings.
Roland will debut the VersaUV LEF-20, a benchtop flatbed printer. This machine is capable of printing directly on virtually any type of item, including three-dimensional objects, to create a vast array of personalized products.
On display from Neopost, the MACH 8 digital color printer is equipped with Memjet technology and is ideal for printing large quantities of full-bleed, letter-size documents in full process color. It can reach speeds up to 60 pages per minute and has a feeder capacity of 5,000 sheets for maximum productivity.
Highlighted by Colordyne, the CDT 1600-PC Sprint is a roll-to-roll digital color printing system with print speeds up to 225 feet per minute and print resolution of 1,600x1,375 dpi. The Sprint is capable of printing full-bleed on either pre-diecut labels or on continuous rolls for off-line finishing.
Ryobi MHI and Graphic Systems North America will feature live demonstrations of the eight-up Ryobi 925 offset press with a built-in Panasonic LED-UV instant curing system. The five-color, 16,200 sheets/hour press is a low-cost, environmentally responsible producer of eight-up, 16-page signature printing. It offers 80 percent energy savings, a 30 percent reduction in plate costs and consumables, and a 40 percent smaller footprint vs. a conventional eight-up press with dryer. No ozone is emitted and no spray powders are required. The CRON CTP system will also be demonstrated at Graph Expo.
The Xeikon 8500 digital color press can handle a variety of applications, such as direct marketing/direct mail, brochures, posters, leaflets, packaging and POP/POS materials. It has a monthly duty cycle of up to 5 million pages and a web width of 20.2˝, resulting in high productivity and format flexibility. The press prints at an imaging resolution of 1,200x3,600 dpi.
Plates and Substrates
Clarity Water Washable Flexo Plates, designed for the packaging market, will be featured by Fujifilm. Water-washable chemistry eliminates all solvents and wicking cloth. In addition, Clarity's total processing time is 30 minutes, three times faster than solvent systems.
One of Presstek's new eco-friendly products is GemPlate, an open-platform, thermal plate that features a pH-neutral biodegradable cleaning solution and an extended bath life with low replenishment rates. After imaging on standard 830nm CTP systems, GemPlate passes through a compact, easy-maintenance cleaning unit.
From fine paper to polyester, Mohawk offers a broad portfolio. This year, the company will showcase its synthetic paper with i-Tone, Strathmore Pure Cotton Letterpress (for digital printing), inkjet media, embedded products, the Mohawk Maker Quarterly and more.
Magnum Magnetics will introduce DigiMaxx, a printable, flexible magnetic material designed for super-wide signage and graphics applications (40˝ and above). DigiMaxx is made in the U.S.A.
Software
Avanti Systems will present Avanti Slingshot, a print MIS incorporating business intelligence (CRM, dashboards and reporting), production planning (estimating, planned purchasing, sales orders, inventory management and scheduling), fulfillment, shipping and billing. It is cloud-based, device-independent and database-agnostic.
Rochester Software Associates will exhibit automated workflows. The latest release of WebCRD (Web-to-print) integrated with QDirect V5 (output manager) offers powerful, configurable production workflows. These automated workflows save touches, time and money while freeing up staff for higher-value work.
PTI Marketing Technologies will be showcasing the latest enhancements to MarcomCentral, its Web-to-print and marketing asset management system. The new features have been added to meet corporate marketing objectives including lead gen, sales enablement, and marketing automation with integrations into applications like Salesforce.com and Marketo. PTI Marketing Technologies will also showcase FusionPro VDP, its variable data publishing suite.
Kodak will display its Prinergy Workflow, a print production software system that gives operators more power and control through scalability, integration and Rules-Based Automation. Prinergy Workflow 6.1 features the Web-based Workspace interface and Scenario Builder, increasing consistency and efficiency.
Presented by Solimar Systems, Chemistry Enterprise Dashboard is core to its modular Customer Communications Management (CCM) platform, Chemistry. This comprehensive platform provides centralized integration of Automated Document Factory (ADF) production processes and customer communications for both print and electronic delivery channels.
XMPie PersonalEffect 7.0 is a VDP software solution with server-based production performance that enables collaboration between service providers and designer partners. Designers can automatically open, edit and sync campaign documents with the XMPie uProduce server, directly from an Adobe InDesign desktop plug-in environment.
SmartSoft will unveil new features for PressWise, its all-in-one Print MIS, workflow automation and Web-to-print solution. Highlights include new reporting tools that turn MIS data into custom reports for greater business analysis and insight, as well as new drag-and-drop job scheduling greater production flexibility.
Bindery
The new Standard Horizon RD-4055 Rotary Diecutter, highlighted by Standard Finishing Systems, feeds, diecuts and separates waste in one pass at up to 6,000 cycles/hr. The system can diecut and kisscut at the same time, making it ideal for sticker and label production. Creasing is also available for applications that require additional folding after diecutting.
Duplo USA will be exhibiting the new DC-616 PRO slitter/cutter/creaser, designed to eliminate white borders and prevent toner cracking on digital color documents. It can finish a variety of full-bleed applications including greeting cards, invitations, photos, perforated tickets and 24-up business cards.
MBO America will be showcasing its Roll-to-Book solution for 20˝ webs. This solution provides the ability to produce different books from the same roll, utilizing the variable cutting SVC 525 C sheeter, the DFT 560 folder with selective folding technology and the Smartbinder SB3-HS with variable batching capabilities.
The Challenge Machinery Co. will display cutters for its new TC operating system, along with paper drills, padders, joggers, book trimmers and cornering equipment. The TC operating system is available with programmable Titan and Champion paper cutters and utilizes a 10.5˝ color touch screen.
On display from G&K-Vijuk will be its SM50 Score-Perf-Slit Unit with ST60 Spread Table. This unit precisely scores, perforates, time perforates and slits. For multiple-up projects, the attached ST60 Spread Table spreads slit leaflets into spaced rows onto the delivery, while it shifts and counter-shifts a preset number of leaflets, creating batches for easy collection.
The Sterling Looper, a tabletop, semi-automatic wire binder, will be introduced by Spiel Associates. Place a card of cut lengths of double-loop wire in the feed tray. The machine will feed each length of wire for the hanging. Then move the book to the closing station. It can bind books from 1⁄4˝ to 11⁄4˝ in diameter at speeds of up to 500 books/hr.
Rollem International will debut a flexo-magnetic rotary diecutter. This machine features short-run capacity, ease of operation and quick changeovers, making it ideal for customized digital output. Run sizes range from one-off to hundreds of thousands. It is available in two sizes: 20x15˝ and 30x24˝.
Show-goers can experience the ease of material handling with Mark Andy's Mobile Roll Lift. This battery powered, compact, turnkey solution is designed for optimum lifting, handling and rotating of raw material, finished rolls, dies and laminate rolls.
The Count FC114 finishing solution from Count Machinery not only eliminates toner cracking by using a die matrix compression crease system, but also crash numbers and perforates, eliminating multiple machines.
The Riso Perfect Binder converts a ComColor X1 Series printer into a self-contained, high-speed book manufacturing solution. The Riso inkjet Perfect Binder solution efficiently prints, collates, trims and binds full-color books up to 600 pages.
Muller Martini's Sigma Trimming Center provides zero makeready, barcode-driven workflow, servo technology controls and knife to cutting stick for true one off book manufacturing. The Granit combines SmartPress technology with Muller Martini's entry-level trimmer.
MGI USA will feature a fully digital hot foiling and embossing module for use with the JETvarnish 3D digital spot UV coater. The iFOIL eliminates the need for films, dies and makeready, allowing users to produce hot foil stamping and embossing jobs on-the-fly.
With its stapling, folding, trimming and spine-rolling capabilities, the Foldnak Compact Line, featured by Hohner, is particularly suited for digital or offset printing shops that produce high-quality booklets in frequently changing print runs.
Colter & Peterson will feature the Microcut COLOR WS and Microtrack II automated backgauge control systems for paper cutters. These systems can improve productivity by as much as 50 percent. Microcut is fast, automated, extremely flexible and adaptable to any brand of paper cutter from 20˝ to 150˝, including Colter & Peterson's own Prism and Saber lines.
Prisco will provide continuous, end-to-end workflow demonstrations featuring an HP Scitex FB700 printer, Esko Kongsberg V24 automated finishing system, Caldera Grand RIP+, HP's Latex 360 printer and a Graphtec roll cutter. PriscoTech equipment and Prisco press chemistry will also be showcased for waste minimization and optimum performance.
