Building on its strategic relationship with Ricoh, Heidelberg USA is poised to launch a new generation of digital printing systems, plus a new digital front end. Following the success of its Linoprint C751 and C901 models, Heidelberg will market their replacements: the new Linoprint CV and Linoprint CP digital color printing systems.
In response to demand from in-plants and smaller printers, Heidelberg USA will begin marketing the entry-level Linoprint CM high-volume, black-and-white digital production machine this month. Also new will be the Linoprint CE, which will enable in-plants to transition to an upgraded platform at lower volumes and lower cost with no loss of quality.
The CV and CP models provide better flexibility, productivity and cost-effectiveness for producing short, personalized and hybrid runs. With Heidelberg’s new Prinect Digital Frontend, both of these digital printing systems can be seamlessly integrated into a shop’s overall production workflow. Heidelberg is the only active printing manufacturer to offer integrated digital and offset applications.
“Both the Linoprint CV and Linoprint CP offer greater productivity, near-offset quality, and tremendous substrate flexibility to complex graphics work and commercial printing,” said Dan Maurer, vice president of digital print and postpress product management for Heidelberg USA. “The new Prinect DFE builds on the success of our previous Prinect Digital Print Manager by enabling either of these new digital presses to integrate more elegantly into commercial offset print environments.”
The Linoprint CV offers a printing speed of 90 ppm across its substrate range and prints in the four primary colors with a high-opacity white or high-gloss coating as an exchangeable fifth color. It is designed for paper formats up to 13x27.5˝ and can produce three-page folding brochures or posters up to 27.5˝.
By combining laser technology, a generous color scale and a low toner melting point, the CV can provide high-quality printing on numerous materials including heat-sensitive plastics.
The CP model can produce advertising and presentation material, personalized print products, bound books and brochures. It can reach 130 ppm and provide volumes of more than 1 million images per month.
The CP offers inline finishing solutions including bookletmaking, UV coating, high-capacity stacking, perforating, and adhesive binding. It can print on structured paper, plastics and paperboard up to an 18-point stock size.
Both the CV and CP will be available with Prinect Digital Front End from Heidelberg, or the EFI Fiery front end.
