Presses
After showing it only in video demonstrations last year, Canon USA will finally bring the Océ VarioPrint i300 sheetfed inkjet press to Graph Expo. It features new ColorGrip technology, an in-line paper conditioning step enabling high-quality inkjet printing on a variety of cost-effective media. Also on hand will be the PRISMAdirect order and workflow management solution, as well as the PRISMAsync print server family, the first DFE-embedded G7 Certified system.
The Xerox Brenva HD production inkjet press is the first in a series of cut-sheet inkjet offerings that combines the cost-effectiveness of inkjet with the flexibilities of cut-sheet printing. The new press enables print providers to capture growth opportunities in key application areas, such as direct mail, transactional and books.
Ricoh USA will show the Ricoh Pro C9110, a high-speed, heavy segment production color digital printer with a speed of 130 ppm and the ability to print on media up to 400 gsm. It is said to deliver superior quality, reliability and productivity at prices much lower than what is currently available today.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions will highlight its bizhub PRESS C71cf, a four-color, digital, roll-to-roll label press. For printers seeking a solution between the entry-level desktop label presses and full production digital solution, this press ultimately helps with the transition from analog to digital label printing.
Xanté will present live demos of the Impressia digital multi-media press. This system has the ability to produce full-color envelopes on-demand with rapid print speeds and enhanced color quality, all at a low cost per print.
Epson America will showcase its wide-format digital imaging solutions, including the 64˝ SureColor P20000, engineered for the production of virtually any photographic imaging application; and the SureColor S80600 solvent printer, featuring advanced imaging technologies set to redefine quality expectations in the signage, vehicle graphics and fine art reproduction markets.
The 29˝ HP Indigo 12000 digital press will print on synthetics, canvas, metalized, black and colored substrates, extending B2-format application opportunities. The press also features increased automation and productivity, allowing users to process thousands of jobs per day.
The OKI C942, offered by Oki Data Americas, delivers five-color printing capabilities reportedly at a fraction of the price of competing devices. With output speeds up to 50 ppm, the C942 applies crisp white and full color-on-color printing to a range of media in a single pass.
Presstek will feature the four-color, two-page 52DI ECO-UV waterless digital offset press with ECO-UV, an integrated UV curing system that dries sheets instantly. Chemistry-free imaging and printing occurs within one highly automated system. The press prints high resolution, 300 lpi on substrates up to 20-pt. thick, including plastics and vinyl. ECO-UV is available as a field upgrade or when purchasing a DI press.
Showcased by GSNA/RMGT, the RMGT 9 Series LED-UV press with SMART RPC technology delivers the versatility of LED-UV instant curing, latest-generation automation and broad substrate capabilities in a package that is said to provide the lowest total cost to print when compared with other eight-up presses.
Bindery
Always an impressive booth to visit, the Standard Finishing Systems’ exhibit will feature the Standard Horizon SmartSlitter, which handles sheet cutting, perforating and creasing in one pass. It boasts simple operation, a color touchscreen and easy job setup via barcode. The print mark registration adjusts for digital image shift from sheet to sheet. The Smart-Slitter is ideal for greeting cards, table tents, invitations and business cards. Skip perforation is available for T- and L-perfs used in tickets, coupons and reply cards.
Duplo USA will exhibit its range of digital print finishing equipment. Showing for the first time in the U.S. will be the new Duplo Digital Spot UV Coater, which adds depth to images and enhances the appeal of the printed product. Also on the floor will be the highly anticipated 350R In-line Booklet System which integrates the DBM-350 Bookletmaker with the Ricoh Pro C9100/8100/7100 series of production printers. A number of other new products will be on exhibit including the DM Collating System and the DC-446 Creaser.
Spiel Associates will show the Sterling DigiBinder Plus, an automated perfect binder that binds up to 360 books/hr. up to 2.25˝ thick. The pneumatic clamp and the nipper adjust automatically, while the roughing blade roughs and notches the entire backbone of the book, allowing for the binding of coated and oil infused stocks. Twin glue rollers ensure an even glue application and also side glues. The machine can produce pads or book blocks for hard-cover binding.
On display at the MBM booth, the Aerocut Velocity slits, cuts, creases and perfs business cards, postcards, tickets and more on various types of stocks up to 400 gsm. It is twice as fast and includes more adjustments than the Aerocut Classic with a greater sheet capacity.
The Challenge Machinery Co. will introduce the CMT 330TC three-knife book trimmer, capable of trimming landscape-formatted, perfect-bound books such as photo albums. The 330TC’s large color touchscreen interface, integrated barcode reader and integrated in-line and off-line book feeding components make the CMT 330TC trimmer an impressive automatic book trimmer.
Made in the U.S., the Rollem International Insignia5 is a sheetfed flexo-magnetic rotary diecutter capable of diecutting, kiss-cutting, perforating, scoring and hole punching anything from card stocks to plastics, laminates and films up to 24-pt. thickness. Key features include run speeds up to 5,000 sph, ease of operation and quick changeovers. The press handles sheet sizes 20x15˝, while a larger IS7 model handles 30x24˝ sheets.
The latest generation of the Technifold USA Web Creaser System will debut at the show. This in-line web press scoring tool now has three different creasing rib profiles to handle a wider range of paper. The new Spine-Hinge Creaser for web presses applies four simultaneous scores for high-quality, perfect-bound book covers.
Muller Martini will offer live equipment demonstrations utilizing the Vareo for both offset and digital printing, the Presto II Digital saddle stitching system and Connex data and process management system.
Spiral Binding will announce the new James Burn DocuPunch MINI at this year’s show. After a simple setup that takes less than a minute, this automatic punch system has the ability to automatically punch up to 10,800 sph. Die changes take just seconds. Users need only load the paper, push the start button and walk away.
Introduced by THERM-O-TYPE Digital Finishing Solutions, the NSF Ultra foil stamping, embossing and diecutting press is ideal for finishing and enhancing digital output. It can be used to diecut and score pocket/presentation folders and more.
On display from Graphic Whizard, the PT 335SCC Multi is a complete, full-bleed finishing system with partial perforating capabilities in both directions. This system can crease, cut, slit and perforate — all in one pass. With a high-capacity 4˝ pile feeder, it is ideal for business cards, greeting cards, invitations, tent cards and tickets.
For the first time in the United States, Tecnau will exhibit the Stacker s25, along with the established double-cutting Cutter c23. The Stacker s25 features a new gripper technology to provide reliable, damage-free handling of heavy-ink-coverage graphic arts applications at high speeds.
Fastbind USA’s booth will highlight the Fastbind PUREVA XT. This short-run PUR and EVA perfect binder allows users to bind soft or hardcover books up to 500 sheets with either EVA or PUR hot melt glues, depending on the job requirements.
Neopost USA is expanding its line of folder/inserters with the introduction of the DS-600i. This production inserter meets the workflow demands of almost every mailing application. At speeds of 6,000 #10 and 4,000 flats/hr., the DS-600i can process a wide range of media, including coated and glossy booklets, feed documents both portrait or landscape, and facilitate in-line envelope printing.
Joining the 31.5˝ Prism P80 at the Colter & Peterson/Microcut booth will be the 28˝ Prism 73E. The Prism P80 features a Microcut color touchscreen computer. The new 73E comes equipped with a Mitsubishi computer control package and electro mechanical clamp/knife drives.
Substrates
Avery Products will present an expanded offering of the AveryPRO 12x18˝ pressure-sensitive material that is engineered for liquid and dry toner digital presses. The new label stocks complement the existing collection of quality substrates, with the addition of new materials like Soft Touch and a Durable PET.
At Mohawk’s booth, attendees will see specialty digital substrates including Mohawk’s expanded wide-format portfolio, which features more than 100 new items for a range of applications and ink types and numerous additions to the cut-sheet portfolio.
Software
Rochester Software Associates will show WebCRD, an in-plant Web-to-print software that sends jobs directly to production printers without re-ticketing. The latest version further automates workflows and reduces costs. New features include visual job ticketing for simplified ordering, AutoFlow+, Production Auditing, Configurable Production Statuses, integration with RSA’s ReadyPrint makeready and more.
Avanti Systems will unveil the latest version of Avanti Slingshot, the industry’s first Print MIS to provide seamless integration with HP PrintOS. The new Point-of-Sale module enables users to spend more time servicing their customers and less time reconciling transactions with fast order entry, invoice generation and real-time, point-of-sale reporting.
The MegaEdit Web-to-print solution will be demonstrated by Infigo Software. Now featuring both a dynamic document editing tool (MegaEdit PRO) and an innovative photo gift personalization solution (MegaEdit PHOTO), this cloud-based software is said to deliver unrivaled flexibility and functionality.
EFI will show the latest EFI Fiery product line, including the new Fiery NX DFE with touchscreen display, an adjustable-height workspace and a proximity sensor to automatically wake from sleep mode. The new Fiery XB DFE platform offers high-power scalability to drive new, ultra-high-speed inkjet presses from Landa, Xerox, Canon and EFI.
Aleyant will premiere its PrintJobManager, a cloud-based print job management solution that includes a fast means of generating market-driven pricing, job management, inventory control, planning and estimating across a variety of production technologies and applications.
PressWise by SmartSoft will be showing the latest enhancements to its all-in-one Web-to-print, MIS and workflow automation platform. These include new kitting functionality, new purchasing capabilities, single sign-on options for in-plant print shops and a number of other new features to be revealed at the show.
Offered by BCC Software, the Integratec API Platform is a secure and scalable architecture that allows users to integrate presort software into their existing USPS mailing preparation process. PAVE certified and built using ZeroMQ messaging and CurveZMQ security, Integratec is said to be the only presort API available with both top security protocols and postal certification.
The Inkjet Mailing and Efficiency Solution exhibited by Solimar Systems provides mailers migrating to inkjet with powerful tools for fast, easy and efficient transition to full-color inkjet. This solution allows users to concatenate small production runs, optimize PDF files for rated speeds, digitally commingle mail for true presorted order, change required barcodes for finishing equipment and add variable digital inserts.
GMC Software is highlighting its Inspire Mobile Advantage, which allows users to create responsive, interactive, regulatory-compliant mobile experiences with little reliance upon IT. This easy-to-use platform integrates with existing systems and pulls data from anywhere, transforming existing documents into fully featured mobile experiences in just hours.
Estimator Cloud will be introduced by Estimator Corp. This intuitive MIS creates real-time estimates for any and all print processes. The program features a simple interface that allows users to learn to use the program in one day; a single screen “point and click” cloud technology; the ability to compare four parts and six quantity pricing for all presses; and it can be installed within 48 hours.
