Get Iran-Contra Revelations on Your Smartphone

Remember the Iran-Contra Affair? How about the fall of the Berlin Wall? These historic events and many others were discussed and debated by Congress in the 1980s, and all of those proceedings were captured in the "Congressional Record," printed by the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO). But who wants to page through those volumes to get the details?
Now, thanks to a GPO partnership with the Library of Congress (LC), every word from those '80s-era "Congressional Record" volumes has been digitized and is available to the public. This release covers debates and proceedings of the 98th thru the 101st Congresses from 1981-1990, spanning Ronald Reagan’s Presidency plus the first two years of George H.W. Bush’s Presidency. This era of Congress covered historical topics such as:
- The Strategic Defense Initiative
- The Space Shuttle program
- The Iran-Contra Affair
- The end of the Berlin Wall and the Cold War
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
This release follows the digital dissemination of the 1990s "Congressional Record" by GPO and LC in September. They will continue to collaborate on this important project and release digital versions of the bound "Congressional Record" back to the first one published by GPO on March 5, 1873. GPO publishes the "Congressional Record" in print and digitally on govinfo.gov every day Congress is in session.
"The digital versions of the 'Congressional Record' now gives the public easy access to the historic debates of Congress on smartphones, tablets, laptops and personal computers," says GPO Director Davita Vance-Cooks. "GPO is honored to partner with the Library of Congress to continue to meet the needs of Congress and the American people."
Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 180 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.
