On Tuesday, May 3, In-plant Graphics will once again host a free one-day conference for in-plants in Washington, D.C. After a very successful inaugural conference in 2015, this year’s Digital Printing in Government and Higher-Ed Conference will feature a whole new lineup of speakers, including Davita Vance-Cooks, director of the Government Publishing Office (GPO).
The event (nicknamed DigiGov) will take place in a spacious auditorium inside GPO’s Washington, D.C., headquarters. The goal of this conference is to offer in-plants innovative ideas and share best practices to help them reshape their operations. We anticipate an action-packed day of education and networking, just like at last year’s conference.
“It was a great experience, meeting so many of my peers,” remarked Richard Peterson, manager of Office Services and Procurement at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, after the 2015 conference. “The subjects and the people who spoke were very good and interesting and informative. I look forward to your next conference.”
The DC area is home to many government and university in-plants, some of which may not have the funding to travel or attend other industry events. To help keep them apprised of the latest in-plant market trends and give them new strategies for adding value, IPG has arranged a stellar lineup of speakers and topics:
- GPO Director Davita Vance-Cooks will welcome attendees and give an update on GPO and its recent initiatives.
- Michael Wash, chief technology officer with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing will discuss U.S. currency development, production and security features, and detail the work that the bureau is doing to ensure that U.S. currency remains in the forefront as the world currency.
- Consultant and former in-plant manager Ray Chambers will discuss how public sector in-plant managers should measure and describe their performance, what key performance indicators to use, and the importance of considering the mission and priorities of the parent organization.
- IPG Editor Bob Neubauer will share the latest in-plant market data research along with his observations of trends in the industry.
- A panel of government printers will discuss best practices, workflow and their digital printing strategies.
Attendees of last year’s conference were thoroughly pleased with the event.
“It’s refreshing to get together with other in-plant managers,” observed Tammy Golden, director of the State of Tennessee’s Division of Printing and Media Services, who traveled from Nashville last year for the conference. “The icing on the cake was having it hosted at the GPO and getting to hear from their staff. It was well worth the trip.”
