ANN ARBOR, MI—Edwards Brothers Malloy, which has provided one- and two-color book manufacturing for more than a century, is breaking new ground with its latest acquisition. With the purchase of a 40˝ Heidelberg Speedmaster sheetfed offset press dedicated to four-color text work, Edwards Brothers Malloy can now offer four-color book and journal printing in runs from one to 3,000 copies.
The Heidelberg press will be fully operational in the company's plant here by the middle of this month.
Edwards Brothers Malloy is also adding capacity to its four-color digital fleet with two new digital presses: another Kodak NexPress digital press (its fourth) that is being installed here and a Xerox iGen 4 being for its Oxnard, CA, digital book center. The company will produce four-color books in both soft and hard cover formats in a variety of binding styles and text stocks.
"We've had great success printing four-color books in our digital print centers, but had to turn down four-color offset book work because we weren't set up to handle it," said John Edwards, president and CEO.
"It just made sense to be able to offer this additional service to our customers."
