Drupa 2016 starts on Tuesday, and it's kind of a big deal. About 1,650 exhibitors from 50 countries around the globe will fill 19 exhibition halls.
Still, for most in-plants, the international trade fair is something they only hear about — usually after it's over. Don't feel bad, though; of the 314,000 drupa 2012 visitors, only 5% hailed from North America. On the other hand, 40% came from Germany. Go figure.
IPG's crack investigative team has tracked down six in-plants attending drupa this year: Brigham Young University, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the World Bank Group, the Kohler Co., the State of California and the GPO. We look forward to learning what they saw there once they return.
IPG attended a pre-drupa conference in Düsseldorf, Germany, in March and reported on a number of the innovations that will be shown next week, which include several production inkjet presses. But some vendors held back their news until now. Here are some of the latest drupa headlines.
- Presstek to Unveil Eco-Friendly Plates, CTP and UV Curing
- Kodak Announces Details of New NEXPRESS ZX
- MGI to Launch Press with In-Line Foiling
- Agfa to Introduce Printers With Air-Cooled UV LED-Curing
- Xerox Plans to ‘Disrupt Inkjet’ at drupa
- Screen to Demo Inkjet Press by Printing Personalized Soccer Program
- Heidelberg and Masterwork to Debut Postpress Products for Printers at drupa
And just for fun, here's a link to IPG's entertaining video of drupa 2008.
