College and university in-plant managers from all across Canada met in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in June for the 47th annual College and University Print Management Association of Canada (CUPMAC) conference. About 30 delegates attended the three-day event, which was hosted by Dalhousie University.
Sessions at the conference focused on the need to explore strategies and develop tools to operate within today’s rapidly evolving print and education environment.
- In a session led by Victoria Gaitskell, she encouraged participants to share both their successes and struggles with expansion.
- Minto Roy of Social Print Paper discussed how college and university print centers can become decision makers for environmentally conscious practices within their institutions.
- Kevin Holmes of Xerox Canada’ stated that while the print industry is here to stay, printers must adapt to the inevitable changes that have affected the business, as well as customer relations.
- Marc Comeau and Nick Haddad offered case studies of the 3D printing operations at Dalhousie University and Algonquin College.
Next year’s CUPMAC conference will move to Canada’s west coast. It will take place June 15-17 in Kamloops, British Columbia.
