Church of Scientology In-plant Raises the Bar
An impressive new video from the Church of Scientology shows off the organization's new 185,000-square-foot in-plant, in Los Angeles. Called the International Dissemination and Distribution Center, the operation houses manufacturing, distribution and administration all under one roof and is staffed entirely by Church staff members. It features a Goss Sunday web press, a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 five-color press and many other pieces of equipment.
The in-plant produces materials for more than 9,000 Scientology churches, missions and affiliated groups worldwide, and it does it all while cutting costs. The video contends the in-plant can now print 35 million publications for the same amount of money that it previously took to print just 3.5 million. That's a hefty savings that allows the parent organization to use money effectively elsewhere.
With an in-house mailing service that can address 150,000 pieces in eight hours, the in-plant is capable of shipping up to 500,000 shipments per week from it's production facility.
