Canon Introduces imagePRESS C800 Series
On Wednesday Canon U.S.A., announced the new imagePRESS C800 Digital Color Press Series, designed for small-to-medium in-plants. Comprised of the imagePRESS C800 and imagePRESS C700, this series is able to handle a variety of media options, including heavyweight coated stock, textured stock and envelopes.
IPG got a close look at the C800 back in May at the Canon for Business 2014 event in Poing, Germany. More than 2,600 customers visited Canon's Customer Experience Center there to see this and other new Canon digital printers. The imagePRESS C800 Series incorporates technologies from Canon’s imagePRESS C7011VP/S Digital Color Press Series, including:
- Canon’s proprietary Gloss Optimization technology, which tailors the gloss level of the toner image to that of the media used, similar to offset printed results.
- The Advanced Image Transfer Belt that increases toner transfer efficiency on smooth and uneven media surfaces, affording these devices extended media-handling capabilities and providing an array of print products.
Multiple new features including red laser R-VCSEL technology enable the imagePRESS C800 Digital Press Series to produce output at up to 2,400 x 2,400 dpi resolution. The systems’ new CV Toner and other technologies provide color consistency for predictable output. The imagePRESS C800 Digital Press Series offers production speeds at up to 80 pages-per-minute (ppm) for the imagePRESS C800 and up to 70 ppm for the imagePRESS C700. In addition, this series can auto-duplex jobs on all supported media weights, reducing the need of manual intervention.
The imagePRESS C800/C700 digital color presses are available in diverse, scalable configurations that enable a white-paper-in, finished-paper-out operation. A variety of in-line finishing options permits users to produce a range of print products including envelopes, folded pamphlets, saddle-stitched and square-folded brochures, postcards, business cards, presentation and training material, flyers and perfect bound books. The selection of production digital front ends gives in-plant managers the choice of operation that best matches their production workflow.
- Part of the PRISMA workflow suite, Canon’s PRISMAsync production digital front end provides a single point of control for the entire print system, intuitive operation, advanced color management controls and production planning capabilities with the Job Scheduler.
- The imagePRESS Server F200 and imagePRESS Server G100 are the first digital front ends on the market based on EFI’s new Fiery FS150 Pro platform. These new DFEs integrate with EFI MIS and Web-to-print products, Canon’s Océ PRISMA workflow, and prepress workflow solutions—including Kodak Prinergy, Heidelberg Prinect and Agfa :Apogee.
