The same week that the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association was holding its annual conference in Costa Mesa, Calif., Canadian in-plant managers were holding a conference of their own in Toronto. The College and University Print Management Association of Canada (CUPMAC) met for the 51st time in June, drawing managers from all over the country.
The two-day conference, billed “Rediscover the Power of Print,” featured a tour of the York University Print Shop, a trade show where vendors displayed their products and a number of educational sessions.
Representing the Association of College and University Printers, Kim Stanford, director of General Support Services at the University of Alaska Anchorage, gave a presentation about her in-plant. Technology expert Marc Saltzman talked about the future of 3D printing. Mike O’Connor, founder and publisher of Insomniac Press, offered his insights on the publishing industry. And speakers from several vendor sponsors, like Konica Minota, Sharp, Xerox, Canon, Ricoh and Rochester Software Associates, discussed trends and technologies. The conference ended with an awards dinner during which several Canadian in-plants were honored for their print and management successes.
