"It's a very profitable venture for our company," notes DeWildt.
Spartan first brought printing and groceries together more than 30 years ago when the company purchased a small, single-color press to produce bulletins. Spartan now has a complete prepress/design department with 43 Mac workstations, a pressroom running three Heidelberg sheetfed presses and four webs, and a bindery running a Polar 54˝ cutter and a Stahl 26˝ folder. The shop employs 90 full-time employees and four part-timers, doing everything from design to delivery.
