Best Practices: Saving Money, Adding Experience
As all in-plant managers know, downsizing can be an unfortunate reality. But, through some creative hiring techniques, it’s possible to still save money for the parent organization and keep skilled, experienced employees in your print shop. In this month’s debut Best Practices section, we catch up with Rick Wise, who combatted downsizing at the University of Missouri by hiring back retirees and adding non-benefit eligible part timers.
“We needed to shore up the gaps of downsizing, which is painful to deal with,” Wise recalls. ”With the economic challenges with in-plants, it’s necessary to have these tools in the arsenal.”
As Wise found out, a reduction in staff did not mean a reduction in his in-plant’s workload. Learn how Wise kept his shop afloat in this new feature from In-plant Graphics.
