I gave a presentation about how in-plants can add value to their organizations, and showed examples of numerous new services I've seen in-plants offer. Several in-plant managers gave sessions detailing how they have transformed and improved their in-plants:
- Shana Farrell, of Fox Valley Technical College, talked about how she transformed her in-plant from average to awesome.
- Michael Luzzo, of Fidelity Investments, described how his team consolidated four printing operations into one, getting leaner in the process.
- Chris Donlon, of Kohler, related how his in-plant upgraded its digital printing equipment to improve quality and keep more work in-house.
Beyond the sessions, though, I enjoyed just talking with countless in-plant managers. I got several ideas for articles, and that alone made IPMA 2011 worthwhile for me.
