At its conference in Las Vegas, IPMA changed its name, announced a new business plan and promised a stronger focus on recruitment. Its plans were greeted with hopeful enthusiasm by attendees, whose numbers were the highest in years.

In another session, motivational speaker Carrie Griffin used dance to show what being a leader is all about. She stressed that being a manager is not the same as being a leader. Leaders have specific attributes:

• Self mastery (knowing your strengths and weaknesses).

• Visioning (knowing where you are going).

Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication.
