At its conference in Las Vegas, IPMA changed its name, announced a new business plan and promised a stronger focus on recruitment. Its plans were greeted with hopeful enthusiasm by attendees, whose numbers were the highest in years.

Meanwhile at another roundtable, government and utility in-plant managers discussed the merits of chargeback systems. Those that don’t charge back argued that doing so would only add administrative costs. Countering this, others said charging back allows them to prove their costs to upper management, which justifies the in-plant’s existence through documented cost savings.

Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication.
