In-plants Meet in Rochester for Workshop
With just over two weeks to go until the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) conference in Dallas, a handful of higher-ed in-plant managers got a sort of preview this week when they met in Rochester, N.Y. On Wednesday and Thursday, Xerox held a Thought Leadership Workshop at its Gil Hatch Center for Customer Innovation, bringing about 30 in-plant representatives together for two days of tours, presentations and networking.
IPG Editor Bob Neubauer gave a presentation to the group on Wednesday evening, offering numerous suggestions of ways they can add value to their schools, while strengthening their operations. The group also saw some of the latest Xerox technologies at the Gil Hatch center, and enjoyed a tour of ColorCentric, a leading on-demand digital printing company with a philosophy of automation and lean manufacturing.
Other educational sessions included a motivational talk by Peter Muir, president of Bizucate Inc., on "In-plant Business Excellence," a presentation on e-books by Neil Falconer, of Pira International and a customer testimonial from Bob Keats, manager of Colgate University's in-plant.
Some of the colleges and universities represented at the event were Bucknell University, Cirtus College, Misericordia University, Missouri State University, Penn State, Utah State and the University of Victoria. Read more about the workshop in the next issue of IPG.
