“Plus, we’re not running 50 plates a day,” Rivera adds. (The shop uses 12 to 20 Glunz & Jensen iPlates daily and averages 4,000 to 5,000 impressions per plate, often two-sided and running work-and-tumble.) He considers ink-jet CTP ideal for 5,000 two-sided impressions and recommends the proprietary plates for up to 10,000 impressions. “I’d be hesitant to do more than 10,000, and I’d run anything under 500 on the Xerox,” he calculates. The in-plant’s offset capabilities are anchored by a recently installed two-color, 13x19˝ Presstek/ABDick 9995C.
