ACUP is just three weeks away. The 44th annual Association of College and University Printers conference will take place in Clearwater, Fla., from May 4-8. Already 120 in-plant managers have signed up.
In addition to an excellent lineup of speakers, and an exhibit area boasting more than 30 vendors, ACUP will feature a green theme on Wednesday. Attendees will ride a bus that morning to the famed Sunken Gardens (www.stpete.org/sunken), a 100-year-old botanical garden that is home to some of the oldest tropical plants in the region.
There, consultant Vic Barkin—IPG’s “green writer”—will talk about various green initiatives that are being adopted by the industry. He’ll offer suggestions on how in-plants can identify the green efforts of their vendors and use them to promote the in-plant’s own environmental friendliness. This will be followed by a roundtable where managers can discuss what they are doing to be more environmentally conscious. After lunch, and a walk through the spectacular botanical gardens, the group will head to the St. Petersburg Times for a tour of its newspaper printing operation. And this is just one day of the three-day conference!
Those who haven’t signed up yet are more than welcome. Find out more here: http://printing.fsu.edu/ACUP/index.html
